The NEW generation ofoccupancy sensors:Legrand’s new generation ofoccupancy sensors are packed with featuresand options that streamline sensor installationand strengthen performance - yet fit in a small, clean package.
Attractive new enclosures offer a flat, extremely low profile appearance thatleaves the ceiling clean anduncluttered.
With a full 360o coverage, thesesensors are able to control a widerange of applications, eitherindividually, or for large areas, inzones that overlap.
Watt Stopper SmartSet technology means noadjustments are needed at installation.SmartSet monitors the space to identify usagepatterns. With this information, it automaticallyadjusts the time delay and sensitivity settingsfor both optimal performance and maximumenergy efficiency.
The lights don’t need to stay on for the entirelength of the time delay if someone is justdropping off mail or other items. With oursmart Walk Through Mode, lights turn off 3minutes after an area is initially occupied ifno movement is detected within 30 seconds.
Quick terminal wiring
Low & line voltages
Diffusers
One touch light level
Terminal wiring and depluggable terminalwiring are featured throughout our newgeneration of occupancy sensors. Quick andeasy installations are now the new standard.
Low voltage sensors are well suited in mostapplications. The simplicity of low voltage wiringallows for optimal placement. However, someapplications, because of installer preference, arebetter suited to line voltage ceiling mount sensors. Our new generation of sensors are available in bothline and low voltage models to matchevery application and installation style.
Both the ultrasonic and dual technologysensors benefit from the new UltrasonicDiffusers. The diffusers are able to evenlydistribute the ultrasound in order to achievea more comprehensive coverage of thecontrolled area.
Many occupancy sensors contain a built-inlight level sensor. Our new generationsensors incorporate this feature PLUS aunique one-touch set up.

PIR technology senses occupancy by detecting the
difference between heat emitted from the human body in
motion and the background space.
Relying on a clear line-of-sight view, passive infrared
sensors make 100% coverage cut off possible. These
sensors use a unique Fresnel lens which divides the
coverage area into zones, enhancing detection of small
movement.
Watt Stopper PIR sensorsare enhanced with advancedtechnologies to ensure highersensitivity and minor motionwithout the potential for falseactivations. These includeDetection Signature Analysisand Pulse Count Processing.

These sensors use our Advanced Signal Processing Circuitry toautomatically adjust the signal detection threshold incompensation for changing levels of activity and airFlow. Thishelps eliminate false ON activations common in other Ultrasonicsensors.

Ultrasonic technology
Using the Doppler principle, ultrasonic sensors work
by bouncing ultrasonic sound waves off objects in an
area and measuring the time it takes for the waves to
return. Movement by a person in the area causes the
sound waves to return at a changed frequency,
resulting in a Doppler shift and occupancy detection.
While PIR and Ultrasonic sensors provideoptimal control for a variety of spaces, some applications pose difficulty for singletechnology sensors.
We created and patented Dual Technology - acombination that takes advantage of the bestfeatures of both PIR and Ultrasonic technologies.Using the Dual Sensing Verification Principle, bothtechnologies must detect occupancy to turnlighting on, while continued detecting by only onetecnnology will hold lighting on.
Dual Technology sensorsensure the greatest sensitivityand coverage for toughapplications, without the threatof false triggers. This leads tothe greatest energy savings.

Applying occupancy sensors
In offices, add a passive infrared sensor. Take advantage of thebuilt-in light level feature tokeep lights off when amplesunlight is present.
Control lighting in restrooms withultrasonic sensors and eliminatehours of unneeded on-time.Ceiling-mounted ultrasonics cansense motion around restroomstalls for reliable coverage.
In open or partitioned offices, use ultrasonic or dualtechnology sensors. Placed onthe ceiling, these sensorscover the area in zones thatoverlap.

• Restrooms• Open office spaces• Offices• Enclosed hallways• Stairways
UltrasonicBest Applications
Common building spaces, such ascopy rooms, are ideal foroccupancy based control. With apassive infrared sensor placed inthe corner of the ceiling, userscan save hours of wasted lightingeach day.
In large conferencerooms, occupants may be therefor long periods of time.Dual technology sensors willbe able to detect the small motionand keep lights on as long as thespace is occupied.
Use occupancy sensorstogether with other controlmethods such as lightingcontrol panels or daylightingcontrols. Integrating controloptions can help you meetenergy codes and sustainabilityguidelines as well as maximizeenergy savings.
In warehouses, a passiveinfrared sensor mounted toa ceiling or fixture willcontrol the lightingbetween shelves - so thatlighting in unoccupied areaswill turn off or turn to a lowerlevel. Users can achieve thiscontrol with fluorescent as wellas HID lighting.
