Citation preview
The landscape design philosophy is to integrate the
naturally occurring vegetation. Where additions are
desirable, the landscape palette will rely on indigenous
species. These sensitive design principles apply
throughout the neighborhood, where sustainable
practices include using locally sourced materials and tree
preservation. All building efforts are guided by values of
land preservation and quality of life, for the long run.
Watson Gap Cottages are carefully crafted in harmony with their beautiful natural
surroundings, each one feeling as though it grew from the land itself, and oriented to
take maximum advantage of the views. The result is an enduring, timeless quality;
a sense that these homes have always been here, and always will be.

Watson Gap Cottages are strategically placed to
encourage meaningful connections with both nature
and neighbors, and designed to take advantage of all
four seasons in one of the country’s most comfortable
climates. This is outdoor living at its best: After a
day exploring the trails in Dugger Valley, feast on a
fresh barbecue in your outdoor kitchen; relax on your
spacious, covered back porch; share stories around the
open-air, family fire pit, while the sun slips over the
horizon. There will only ever be 10 unique, Watson Gap
Cottages, making for a truly intimate neighborhood,
yet connected to the larger community through nearby
Watson Gap Park.
The use of natural materials gives Watson Gap Cottages
a rugged look that reinforces their enduring nature
and allows them to settle comfortably into their
surroundings. Roughhewn timber, bark siding,
free-stacked stone, and intricate wrought-iron work
combine to create an aura of having sprung from the
land itself. These natural materials, shaped and placed
by local craftsmen, are a testimony to the beauty and
simplicity of Blue Ridge architecture.
