Environmental Study

The Purpose of the EA Study was to conduct a Schedule C Class Environmental Assessment to:

– address existing/future capacity deficiencies – consider the effects of all aspects of

environment and systematic evaluation of alternatives

– develop preliminary preferred design(s) of recommended alternative

Environmental Study

• Environmental Study Report (ESR) published December 2012– Report available on project webpage

• Preferred design selected• Construction to follow

recommendations

Building Demolitions

• Completed demolition of 4 house structures in August 2014

• RFQ made use of green procurement to recycle materials

Building DemolitionMurray’s Variety building to be purchased by City and demolished.

Road Widening

• Existing 3-lane configuration:– No on-road bike lanes– 1.5m wide sidewalks

• Proposed 5-lane configuration:– On-road bike lanes, both sides– 2.0m wide multi-use sidewalks

• Land required to build approved design

Bell Canada Two (2) existing maintenance hole structures to be rebuilt to accommodate lowering of cable duct structures.

Burlington HydroEast pole line on Waterdown Road to be relocated further east.

• Streetscaping to include for gateway feature at Plains Road and Waterdown Road intersection

• Combination of hard and soft landscaping
