• Community oriented policing requires police and citizens join together as partners in the course of both identifying and effectively addressing issues.

report• Randomly patrol• Make arrests

COMMUNITY-ORIENTED• Constantly review reports for

patterns, geography becomes relevant

• Look for root causes • Look for commonalties, ie- low

lighting, limited access • Utilize supportive technology• Concentrate on small

problems to prevent big ones• Develop community

partnerships

Community Policing Goals for Crime Reduction

• To significantly reduce street level activity and those crimes associated with it

• To Improve the living conditions of residential areas experiencing the negative effects that unlawful activity creates

• To rebuild community trust through partnerships, ie-citizens academy , teen squad, explorer post, PAL, engagement, etc.

• To redirect offenders to a more productive life
