TIPS & STRATEGIES FOR VISUAL LEARNERS

Dfinition Visual learning is a teaching and learning

style in which ideas, concepts, data and other information are associated with images and visual techniques.

Focus on the learning objectives of the class

Try to know witch style of teaching has your teacher. Meet with him and ask him to help you with your own style. Communicating with the teacher is the most important thing.

Most visual learners study better by themselves.

Visual learners like doing their things on their own way. They must have a grade of freedom and do their studding on the way they like. Using graphics and drawing schemes can be very helpful.

Using Higlighters

Underline main points of a text by using highlighters. Use different colors depending on the importance of each idea.

Directions & Instructions

When verbal directions are given, make sure you write down the key words or phrases, if necessary, draw yourself an scheme.

Breaks

After 25 minutes of studying, take a small break. Disconnecting totally for a couple of minutes will help you concentrate better for the next 25 minutes of studying.

Review your work

Review your underlined/highlighted material after your break. This will help you fix the new ideas and to reinforce the ones you’ve learnt.

Look at your teachers

Look at people and professors when they talk. This technique will help you stay focused. Avoid distractions and try to stay concentrated on what you’re doing.
