The 2013 VFMA Annual Membership Meeting

The Annual VFMA Members meeting was held

at the Freedom’s Foundation on January 23th

from 7-9 PM. The members of the Board were

introduced and Karen Majiso and David Holmes

were nominated and accepted as the newest

members. Karen will be acting as Membership

and Hospitality Chair and David will be acting

as Planning Committee in 2013. The board

thanked retiring board members John Anderson

and Al Bommentre for their service on the

board. The guest speakers were Chief Fetter-

man of the Schuylkill Township Police Force,

Barbara Cohen, allbar@aol.com, Schuylkill

Township Supervisor, Dr. Lorna Stuart, Medical

Director of The Clinic in Phoenixville, Bill Bar-

ton, TE Township Manager, and Don Maioli,

Chairman of Friend of Valley Forge Park.

The budget and financial health of the Associa-

tion was reviewed and Luke reported that the

accounts were in a good financial state. VFMA

Membership was at 177 families this year. We

discussed the beautiful new playground equip-

ment.

Ladies Wine and Cheese

December 2, 2012

The Ladies Wine and Cheese, this year at Kay

C Pierce’s house, was a terrific event and well

attended! VFMA provided 12 wonderful bot-

tles of wine for the event and the refresh-

ments provided by the ladies were all deli-

cious. Thanks everyone for making it such a

special evening.

I was unable to get any photos from this event.

The 2013 Dinner Dance at the Phoenixville Country Club

The 2013 Dinner Dance Mardi Gras was a great success with 62 neighbors participating. The meal was

delicious and the music, provided by DJ Joe Griffith, was terrific. Many people stayed until the very last

dance. Overall, a smashing success!

Neighborhood Watch

There has been some vandalism in the neighbor-

hood, specifically in the SunBowl, and last month,

items were taken from unlocked cars in the neigh-

borhood. Please take care, keep your eyes open

for unusual activity, and lock your car doors at

night. Don’t hesitate to report suspicious activity

to the Schuylkill or TE Police.

Let’s be aware and keep the neighborhood safe!

Santa Made His Annual Visit December 12

Santa made some quick stops to Valley Forge Mountain just before Christmas. Children of all ages had a

chance to meet Santa and put in a few last minute requests. Thank you to Sarah and Richard Culbert,

Missy and Ray Farkouh and Marla and Mike Stevens for hosting Santa visits this year. Thanks to Kate and

Frank Kirk for a wonderful Santa experience!

Covered Bridge Garden Club www.coveredbridge-gardenclub.com

The Covered Bridge Garden Club will

again hold their spring plant sale May 4,

2013. New to the sale will be container

plants, torenia and dracaena, along with

new hanging baskets of fuchsia or angel

wing begonias. Unfortunately, we are not

selling the flats of impatiens this year be-

cause many of the plants were infected

with mildew. If you plant infected impati-

ens in your soil, the mildew can spread to

other plants. We are recommending that

you do not plant impatiens in the ground

this year. A brochure and order form will

be mailed to previous customers toward

the end of March. New customers should

go to our web site at www.coveredbridge-

gardenclub.com or contact Sue Heist

(heist9@comcast.net).

VFMA Welcoming Committee

If you happen to meet, or find out about,

a new neighbor moving into the neigh-

borhood, please let the Welcoming Com-

mittee know, so that they can plan a wel-

come visit and basket.

Email Karen Majiso with any updates.
