Air circuit-breakersIZM 20 to IZM 63
2 ProduCt information iZm 20 to iZm 63
Moeller presents an unparalleled complete portfolio of air circuit-breakers (ACB) up to 6300 A with the circuit-breakers IZM 20 to IZM 63. Four switch sizes enable the optimum choice of the most efficient circuit-breaker for every project. The widths of the switch increase with rated current, whereas height and depth remain identical for the benefit of consistent installation conditions ensuring that the most compact and cost-effective size can be selected.
The new IZMX16 is a particularly compact solution for even more cost-effective requirements at rated currents up to 1600 A and short-circuit breaking capacities up to 65 kA. Its volume has been reduced by 36%.

The very robust switches are already in use in harsh industrial environments in hundreds of thousands of applications. High material strengths and high short-time withstand current capacity are their characteristic features.
Depending on the type of equipment to be protected, the circuit-breaker tasks are divided into four main areas of application.
• System protection
• Motor protection
• Transformer protection
• Generator protection
The modular design, the wide rated current range up to 6300 A and the adaptability guaranteed by a complete range of accessories, including the communication capability, allow universal application in almost all sectors and applications.

Basically, the entire series consists of 4 sizes with just 2 basis units and actually have just one common platform. Accordingly, all 4 sizes utilize the same accessories, provided that they are not width dependent.
Switches for currents from 4000 A consist of 2 basis units connected in parallel. As a result, for each phase there are two adjacent terminals available both on the input and output sides. This is beneficial for the thermal design of the switchgear system and facilitates simplified
production methods for many control panel systems. A reduction in the number of busbar adapter variants and avoidance of larger cross-sections offers additional advantages in terms of economy and handling.
The standard delivery package contains a switch that is ready to connect and fully operational. Further useful accessories such as auxiliary contacts and door seals are also a matter of course in the supplied items.

The circuit-breaker IZM opens up new opportunities in the energy distribution field with its communication capabilities. They provide all the information necessary for information and pass it on. System transparency is enhanced, and the reaction times to critical states, e.g. overcurrent, phase unbalance or phase failure is reduced.
System malfunctions can be prevented by quick intervention in a process, or preventative maintenance activities can be scheduled. Thus, the level of system availability is increased. Interfaces for Profibus and Modbus are available.

The IZM series features a complete range of accessories. Furthermore, all voltage configurations required for worldwide use and export are available.
Retrofitting of accessory parts in the switch is especially comfortable through the front installation feature. In this way, it is possible to respond dynamically to system modifications – even at a later stage.
The auxiliary circuits are fully isolated from the main circuits. And the solid front cover also fully isolates the operating personal from the auxiliary circuits.

Minimize risks
Arc faults cannot be physically mastered by existing circuit-breakers, before the maximum destructive pressure and in particular the temperature are exceeded. For these cases, we have developed an expandable and completely matched type-tested system.
With IZM and ARCON, you can effectively control not only this damage within 2 ms. Arcs are also mastered, which normally do not even cause an overload release to trip because of their impedance, and which continue to burn until destruction.

Direct ARMS activation on the circuit-breaker Maintenance of a switchgear system
The new and patented ARMS system (Arcflash Reduction Maintenance System) guarantees even more safety for maintenance personnel. In the event of an overcurrent or dangerous arc-fault, ARMS breaks almost instantaneously. Breaking is even faster than that of a non-delayed short-circuit trip.
This function can be activated directly on the circuit-breaker or automatically with an external switch, e.g. when maintenance staff enter a danger zone.
The arc-fault protection system can be extended in stages through other components from the protection system ARCON in conjunction with the IZM26.

Comfortable engineering and documentation
Intuitive and user-friendly operation offers excellent possibilities for graphic editing of the circuit diagrams and the parameters of the installed components.
New users can commence work with the assistance of the training video or by using the presentation. Simple circuit diagram creation, including automatic calculation and optional selection of the function auto-dimensioning in conjunction with the clear tree structure of the component database, facilitates a quick engineering process and simplifies all editing work.
xSpider allows the simulation of different operating states in the network allowing the connection and disconnection of power sources and loads.
Parameter and calculation results are shown on the circuit diagram and can be exported to common formats. The calculation results can be printed. All calculations are based on the conditions of the IEC standard guaranteeing the accuracy of the computed results.
1. Voltage drops,
2. Load distribution,
3. Calculations of short circuit currents,
4. Disconnection times of the protection devices,
5. Impedances, etc.
A simple task with guaranteed results
Export of the results
xSpider is a calculation tool used for dimensioning and optimizing low-voltage networks. This program is available free of charge after registration.

CurveSelect – characteristic program for protective devices
Together with Microsoft Excel®, it allows simple and convenient common representation of tripping characteristics corresponding to the individual switch settings. The discrimination (selectivity) of the engineered system can be
determined and printed out as documentation for the configured system. The term selectivity or discrimination is used when just the protective device in the direct vicinity of the equipment trips with a fault.

In order to guarantee short delivery times, an automatic check of the technically feasible combination is performed immediately upon entry into SAP. Possible errors can be clarified immediately. The devices are assembled in the nearest production center in accordance with the placed order, where the accessories are fitted and then subjected to final test and inspection. The test data are sent, monitored and stored online via Internet. Every switch is assigned with an identification number allocated to the data. This facilitates all subsequent communication with the final customers.
The delivery is then added to further deliveries bound for the same address at our highly-modern Logistics Center and delivered as a single consignment when possible.
Availability and delivery:
Under the Quicklink IZM-Config on www.moeller.net, free-of-charge ordering software can be downloaded. Using this software, the circuit-breaker can be easily configured without errors by a simple click (see figure above). You are then provided with a completed ordering list (see figure below) that you can send to your supplier. During the configuration of the switch, only material that can be feasibly technically combined is available for selection. Incorrect orders are thus excluded. Price lists that can be integrated for the items in this software are available from Eaton sales organisations.
