Verónica Michelle Bachelet Jeria (Spanish pronunciation: [beˈɾonika miˈtʃel batʃeˈle ˈxeɾja]; born September 29, 1951) is President-elect of Chile. She is a Chilean politician who served as President of Chile from 2006 to 2010. She resigned from UN Women in March 2013 to run for a second term as President of Chile. On December 15, 2013, Bachelet won a runoff election, regaining the presidency. She is the first person to be elected to a second term as President since Arturo Alessandri's third term ended in 1938.
