• 53 vehicle/pedestrian/bicycle collisions were reported in January-March 2015 in Halifax Regional Municipality.
• Of these collisions, 3 involved bicycles.
• The remaining 50 incidents were strictly vehicle/pedestrian collisions, with 50 pedestrian victims.

Trends
The number of vehicle/pedestrian collisions has been declining since January 2015 after a substantial increase in November and December 2014. There were 22 fewer incidents in March 2015 compared to the same period in 2014.

HRP
Central and West Divisions saw a reduction in the number of reported collisions in January-March 2015 compared to the same period in 2014. The number of collisions in East Division remained steady throughout this period.
RCMP Halifax District
RCMP Halifax District had one more collision in January-March 2015 compared to the previous year.
HRM
In HRM there was a 30.6% decrease in the number of reported incidents in January-March 2015 compared to January-March 2014.

Injuries
80% of the 50 pedestrian victims experienced either no injury or minor injury in the reported incidents in January-March 2015.
HRM has had two fatalities so far this year.
No driver injuries were reported.
Pedestrian Characteristics • 64% of victims were female.
• 25% of female victims were in the 10-20 years age range.
• 29% of male victims were in the 51-60 years age range.

Driver Characteristics Over one third (34.5%) of drivers were in the 31-40 years age range.
Males accounted for 72% of drivers involved in the reported vehicle/pedestrian collisions.
This is in contrast to the proportion of males of approximate driving age in HRM, which is nearly 48% according to the HRM 2011 census.

In January-March 2015 the 11am-12pm timeframe saw the highest number of collisions, followed by the 1-2pm and 6-7pm timeframes.
Mondays and Thursdays were peak days for vehicle/pedestrian collisions.
