Why Use theVEGAPULS 68?
The VEGAPULS 68 is a 2-wire radar gauge for measurement of
solids. Tired of not having a measurement during ll or empty cycles,
or losing the measurement signal due to dust? The VEGAPULS
68 eliminates such obstacles by combining the advantages of
radar technology with the special requirements of bulk solids
measurement.
VEGAPULS 68 Benets:
• Non-contact measurement
• Measuring range up to 230 ft (70 m)
• Unaffected by dust, angle of repose, and temperature• No signal loss with pneumatic lling
• Reliable measurement due to wide dynamic range of sensor
• For products with very low dielectric constant (from 1.4)
• Hazardous area approvals
• Plics compatible
• Two-wire

Principles of OPERATION
Horn Antenna
The microwaves are focused from the horn
antenna via a PTFE cone in the antenna and
directed to the product surface. The precision-
designed antenna rim ensures low antenna noise
and high sensitivity at close range.
Advantages
• Optimal focusing with small antenna
diameters
• Easy mounting even in small connections
• Precision-designed horn
• High sensitivity especially at close range• Swivel mount available
• Beam angle:
Cone 1.5” (40 mm) 22°
Cone 2” (48 mm) 18°
Cone 3” (75 mm) 10°
Cone 4” (95 mm) 8°
Parabolic Antenna
At the focal point of the parabolic reector is the
well-protected “feed system.” Microwave signals
are sent up from the feed system and focused via
the antenna surface. The entire antenna system
can be detached for easy mounting.
Advantages
• Removable antenna system for small
process ttings
• Insensitive to contamination and damage
through recessed feed system
• Consistent emitted signal without interfering effects
• Trouble-free mounting in standard nozzles
• Swivel mount available
• Beam angle: 3.5°

BENEFITSThe VEGAPULS 68 is able to reliably measure all types of
solid materials in all types of industries. Through the use of
microwave radar, the VEGAPULS 68 solves many of the
problems usually associated with solids applications.
