Using Workspaces
A Workspace is a particular configuration of panels, toolbars, charts and/or table layouts that makes
up your trading environment. ProTrader desktop provides predefined default Workspaces and lets
you create any number of custom Workspaces either by modifying the default or by starting a new
Workspace from scratch. Custom Workspaces can be saved as .wrk files and reopened whenever
required.

After first launching, ProTrader automatically loads a default workspace. Default workspaces are
located in ProTrader installation directory\Default Workspaces\
Click Environment > Workspaces to see all available default workspaces on your computer.
After making any changes to a Workspace, it becomes a custom Workspace. Custom Workspace is
automatically prompted to save to your computer when closing.
Opening Multiple Workspaces
During your session, you can load several Workspaces, and keep them open at the same time. When
you have more than one Workspace open, they appear as tabs in the panel footer. You can switch
between the open Workspaces by simply clicking the tabs.
You can Hide, Lock or Detach any workspace.
Blank Workspace
To create a new blank (no panels or toolbars) workspace, select Environment New or click on new
workspace.
Saving a Workspace
Any customizations you make to a Workspace can be saved in as a (.wrk) file and loaded later.
To save the current Workspace:
Select Environment > Save As. This brings up the Save Workspace to File dialog box.
Browse to the folder where you want to place the Workspace file.

appears in the header showing the sort direction.
Sorting can be locked by right-clicking in the table and selecting View > Lock Sorting. When sorting is

1.2. Linking Panels
Some panels can be linked together. When panels are linked, selecting an instrument in one of the
panels causes other panels in the group to display information relevant to that instrument. For
example, when you have an Order Entry panel linked to a Watchlist panel, the instrument selected in
the Order Entry panel will be changed to the instrument selected in the Watchlist.
Each link is identified by a colour: grey, red, yellow, green, black, blue, or brown, which means you
can have up to 6 different links in a Workspace.
To enable colour linking, select Settings Workspaces and Layouts, and place a checkmark against Use
colour linking. Now, panels that can be linked will have a link button in their headers, to the left of
the usual window management buttons.
Setting Up Links
To link two or more panels together:
Click the down arrow alongside the Link button in one of the panels you want to link
together.
From the drop-down menu, select one of the colours. The button changes to display the
colour.
Repeat the same procedure for other panels to be linked, selecting the same colour.
You can also link all panels in the Workspace by selecting Link to All.
To unlink a panel from a group, click on the Link button and select Unlink.
Using the Colour Links Toolbar
Using this toolbar, it is possible to change the instrument which is shown by a linked group. First,
select the instrument; if necessary, click the link icon to bring up the Instruments dialog box and
select the instrument. Then click the Link button and select one of the colour links from the drop-
down menu.
ProTrader Desktop User Guide.docx 15
All panels in the linked group (here, Red) now display the selected symbol (here, MTN CFD).

By choosing this option (grey colour) you will link active window to all other windows with any
colours.

appear. Drag the panel into the button to preview its next position.

Trades section is similar to Time and Sales panel. Here you can view the latest trades or the
ProTrader Desktop User Guide.docx 44
latest trades and quotes.

the new quote is coming.

minimal work brokers need to do.
o A Limit order placed with a brokerage to buy or sell a set number of shares at a
specified price or better.
ProTrader Desktop User Guide.docx 47
o A Stop order placed to buy or sell a security when its price surpasses a particular
point, thus ensuring a greater probability of achieving a predetermined entry or exit
price, limiting the investor's loss or locking in his or her profit.
o OCO is an order stipulating that if one part of the order is executed, then the other
part is automatically cancelled.
o A stop-limit order will be executed at a specified price (or better) after a given stop
price has been reached. Once the stop price is reached, the stop-limit order
becomes a limit order to buy (or sell) at the limit price or better.
o A "Sell" trailing stop order sets the stop price at a fixed amount below the market
price with an attached "trailing" amount. As the market price rises, the stop price
rises by the trail amount, but if the stock price falls, the stop loss price doesn't
change, and a market order is submitted when the stop price is hit. "Buy" trailing
stop orders are the mirror image of sell trailing stop orders. This functionality is only
available on offshore instruments, due to the nature of local instruments please
refrain from using it locally.
o Manual executions tend to be slower than automatic ones, in which trades are
inputted quickly and often in real time, thus giving investors a time advantage.
TIF - Time-in-force options allow traders to be more specific about the time parameters in
which an order is activated. This is especially important for active traders. It can be Day, GTC
or IOC.
o A Day order, as the name implies, is valid for the current trading day.
o Good till cancelled orders, on the other hand, will remain alive until they are
cancelled or filled.
o IOC (Immediate or Cancel Order) - an order requiring that all or part of the order be
executed immediately after it has been brought to the market.
Risks - you can set price for Stop Loss or/and for Take Profit. If you need, you can use Set
Trailing Stop. Using a Trailing Stop allows you to let profits run while cutting losses at the
same time.
Initial Margin - minimum account balance required to open the position you are requesting.
Maintenance Margin - minimum account balance required to keep this position open.
Option Margin will show you Initial Margin and Maintenance Margin and Option Swaps will
show you swaps for positions that you want to open.
