Introduction
+
USB Power 8840 is a 8 Channel USB Relay Module. Do not need any USB protocol
knowledge to control and support IR remote controller.
User can control 8 independent port and each output can switch up to 10A loading. With
Scheduler , Demo , LOG , USB Power 8840 supports simple operation commands to control
relay and read the relay status of USB 8840, when attach to a computer / notebook , it will
automatically show up as a serial port and allows you to control through a serial terminal
software like HyperTerminal or Putty. This board can easily be controlled by writing simple
serial port application through our provided SDK.

There are 2 power in source on USB Power 8840. Please choose one power in ONLY :
- Green Terminal Jack OR Black DC jack
NOTE : DO NOT POWER IN 2 source at same time.
Wrongdoing on using mixed sources will cause the warranty invalid

Installation
Hardware
1.) Connect power line with 8840
Notice :
There are 2 power source. Please choose one only as power source .
DO NOT input more than ONE power in .
Either Green Terminal jacks or Black DC jack
or
2.) Connect 8840 with PC by USB cable.
Connect device 8840
Notice :
1) First, connect the power line of your controlled deice to 8840. Make sure that
you would like to connect as N.C. or N.O. .
Max. current spec :
N.C. ( Normal Close) : 5V per output
N.O. ( Normal Open) : 10V per output

To control the device power :
Be care the power line if you would like to control CITY power ( AC current )
OR
Notice : Do not control the power over our SPEC . Especially control the electricity device
with higher power loading .
Software
Installation Procedure
1. Please make sure that your PC had install .NET . Or please go to here to
download before install USB Power 8840 . :
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=21
2. After install .NET, please put the CD in your CD ROM and it will execute
AUTORUN. file or you can open by Windows . Please use web browser “ IE
“ to open the CD.

4. Then go to Manual USB Series USB Power 8840 to Download the
driver “ USB Net Power Driver” and the software “USB Power 8840.exe “ into

your hard disk .

8840 Driver: USB Net Power Driver .
5. Connect the 8840 power and the USB port of 8840 power to PC . PC will show
up “ Detect New Hardware” , then select the 8840 driver and install .
6. After install the driver, you can get “Aviosys Port (COM X) in Ports (COM&
LPT) device manager as following .

4.) After confirm the 8840 had shown in Device Manager , please execute the software
“USB Power 8840.exe “ and you will get as following :

Software Interface
Date & Time
USB Power 8840 will auto- sync the time of your PC. User can apply for schedule control ON
or OFF . .
Control button
Control each output turn On or turn OFF. User can just click the light ball picture to control the
output 1~ 8 turn ON or OFF.
As 12V power in and USB cable connect to USB Power 8840 device ,
all the LED light on board is “ON” .
Light “ON” means the relay is not change status ( As H/W connection at N.C. or N.O.).
Light “OFF” means the relay status changed .

Note : “ Light “ means the LED on board & and the Light Ball sign in software AP
Function
There are several function in this section : Schedule , Stop watch, Setup , Demo , LOG , Exit
and Control All.
Schedule
User can make schedule control , turn ON or OFF at assigned time .
Note : For this function, PC and software need to be available all the time and do not go to
sleep mode .

Type or Select the date to control . Select Control Port , Time , command ( ON/OFF) .

Create Add Event
Set Start date , Time , Select Control Port then press Add button to create the event.
Edit Event
Choose the event you would like to edit , then change the Start date , Time , Select
Control Port . After change , please press Edit button to save the change.
Delete Event
Choose the event you would like to delete then press Del button to delete.
Del All
Press Del All button to delete all event in list . There is a wizard pop up for double confirm
purpose..
Stop Watch
Auto control ON/OFF setting. If there is routine ON / OFF, user can use this function.
00: 00:00 means
Hour : Minutes : Second s. ( Not less than 5 second )

For Example :
Setup “ ON: 00:00:05 “ + “ OFF : 08:00:00 “ + Repeat
Means that it turn ON in 5 seconds ( Aa NO – connect ), and turn off after 8 hours
( As NO – Disconnect ) ,then repeat this action.
Note : Please do nto setup Scheudle & Stop Watch on same port .
Setup
In Setup section , user can change the name of each output , and also assign the
ON/OFF status after 8840 power reboot by enable “Save power status”.
If select “ Save power status” , the outlets status will be the last status as device power off.
If no select “ Save power status” , the outlets status will be the default status as device power
turn ON to ON ( All LED light turn ON as device power ON ) .
Demo
Choose Demo mode , user can setup turn ON by sequence or at the same time .

One by One :
For example :Set up as 5 seconds means each outlet turn ON for 5 seconds and then turn
off in turns.

For example : Set up as 10 seconds . Each outlet will turn on for 10 seconds in turns then
turn off for 10 seconds in turns then turn on again .

* Please do not work with function “Schedule” or “Stop Watch “ at same time .
Log
USB 8840 will AUTO save the changes record. User can open the directory saving
LOG file by press this LOG button. The LOG file is saved per day.
To save long tim information , the PC and software need to be available all the time and do not
go to sleep mode .

Exit
To turn off the AP and app setting function . Include Schedule , demo or Stop watch.
And there is Warning message while press Exit button.
IR Remote Controller
There is 1 remote controller for USB 8840.
Just only use #1~#8 button. Button #1~#8 is for output 1~ 8.
Please do not work with our software “USB Power 8840.exe”.
SDK ( USB CDC emulation mode)
For user to arrange own development :
Developing environment: :
- VB.NET 2008
- Microsoft NET. Framework Version 3.5
- Microsoft office access 2007
USB CDC emulation mode .
Please refer the setting as following :

1. First , make sure that the 8840 is connect with your PC. Please go to
Control Panel System Device manager Ports(COM& LPT) Aviosys Port (COM X)
2. Then open Hyper terminal to connect with 8840.
Start All programs Accessories Communication Hyper terminal
* There is no Hyper terminal program in WIN 7. Please use other serial software like Putty .
Select the COM port 8840 use .
3. Setup “ Bits per second” as 19200 and “ Flow control” as NONE. Then press OK to log in .
After go into the command windows, please press “ enter “ key to get all the command .
[Command ]
1.p[1~8]=0(OFF)/1(ON)
ex. p1=0 --> set p1 as Off。
2.readio --> response the status of p1~8 .
3. Key “ ? “or Key "Enter" --> response the command list .
