Evaluation of Trip to London

Question 1: Response ò  The place we visited in Central London are:

•  Liverpool Street Station

•  The Bankside

•  St. Paul’s

•  River Thames

ò  The photographs I took were structure/buildings, skyscrapers, statues, reflections in

water and glass and some urban spaces.

ò  I find the reflection in glass and water is the most interesting subject to photography,

Because you can still see it clearly even the small details of it.

Question 2: Practical

ò  The weather was not that good, it’s not particularly strong because there was a bit of rain. Though it does not affect my photographs because I used the right aperture. I considered the light, space, high and low view point, angles and the focus point when taking photographs.

Question 3: Success

ò  I enjoyed most of it. The experience was great, I learned a lot. The places and buildings we took and visited was good, it has different structures and I think I used the right photography techniques as well. High view point photographs are my most successful photographs I took because I used some composition techniques which involves placing the photographs in a negative and positive space.

Question 4: Improvements

ò  The weather didn’t go as planned on the day because it’s raining and I think it’s much better if it’s a sunny day. I think I would likely to change the joiners photographs if I went back to London, the photographs are fine but I think it’s not that successful.

The photographs were taken during the sand storms that blow in from the desert. Along with the atmospheric pollution of the city, the sand creates a grey-yellow monochrome that evens out perception and plays with the awareness of time.

The photographs evokes the stillness and quietness of a twilight daydream.

It looks like a polluted and lonely place because of the

color.

Evaluation

My intention when taking this photograph was to capture buildings, structures and different architectural designs. I was particularly inspired by the photographs by Margaret Difford because she has the creative outlet to express her love of nature and structure and her images encapsulate vision of the world and reveals her skill in creating an effective composition. I like it too because it’s mostly captured in black and white like it’s showing an old and sad photograph or captured in the past.

The composition of the photograph is strong, it’s balanced and it’s on the centre. If I were to reshoot my photograph I would change the composition like the joiner photos I didn’t captured any good ones and it has more negative space. I shot my photograph from a low view point and the result of shooting the photograph from this angle is good because it’s makes the photograph taller and bigger. My photograph is sharply in focus. If I were to reshoot my photograph I would improve it by capturing the reflection in it but still sharply focus and keep it low view point. I think my photograph is correctly exposed. There are strong shapes and patterns visible within my photograph like triangles, rectangles, oval etc. I find it visually pleasing to look at. I edited my photograph in black and white, I choose to edit it in this way because it brings out the shape or form of the subject, it brings out the shadow and shapes of the architecture and it may help to emphasise the light source or the effect of the light upon the subject.

Conclusion: Therefore in conclusion I obtained the visual results I hoped for because I successfully

aimed and captured what we have to do. And I think I edited the photographs correctly.
