Ferris Arts and Lectures – “Hate in Any Form is Unacceptable”

On Thursday, February 7th, Ferris Arts and Lectures welcomes former NFLDefensive Lineman, Esera Tuaolo. He will be speaking on his experiences as a gayman in the NFL in the University Center, Ballroom A, at 7PM. The topic is "Hatein Any Form is Unacceptable."

Tuaolo played for five different teams including the Green Bay Packers andwent to Superbowl XXXIII with the Atlanta Falcons. During that time however,Tuaolo felt forced to hide his sexual identity and the pressure of living a doublelife led him to ...abuse alcohol and at one point contemplate suicide. Only one ofthree former NFL players to come out, he now shares his experiences.

Tuaolo started out as an impoverished Samoan immigrant who played collegefootball for Oregon State prior to his successful NFL career. His story is oneof redemption and advocacy. He has received great support from formerteammates, the media and friends as he advocates for diversity in professionalsports and in all walks of life.

The lecture event is open free of charge to all FSU students, faculty and staffand to the Mecosta Community.
