Making Color

Paint

For thousands of years, paint has been a primary medium of the visual arts.

Altamira, Spain, 15-20,000 BC

Saharan Africa, 50,000 BC

Pigments

Paint is a suspension of pigment particles.

Different types of paint (watercolor, acrylic, oil, gouache, etc.) are just different binding solutions for holding pigment.
