D. Complicated relationships: Israel and Judah were related to many of their

neighbors. 1. Edom was descendant of Esau 2. Ammon and Moab were descendants of Lot

E. King David conquered the Moabites, and by the time of Ahab, Israel was demanding 100,000 lambs and wool from 100,000 sheep. The Moabites rebelled.

Read Deuteronomy 2:2-5, 9 and 19 and Deuteronomy 20:19-20 and answer the following? A. What was God instructing? B. Were the Israelites supposed to wipe out the

people of Moab, Edom, and Ammon? C. Were they supposed to cut down the trees?

hearted? B. Why was the Lord merciful to Joram? C. Why do you think God caused the allies to

withdraw in anger after the war? What happens when people choose to be

merciful? (WWII example)
