PREAMBLE: Textile design forms the core of the entire business of fashion.Textile Designing is a process of creating designs and structures for knitted, woven, non-woven or
embellishments of fabrics. Textile designing involves producing patterns for cloth used in clothing,
household textiles and decorative textiles. It fulfills a variety of purposes in our lives, for example,
our clothing, carpets, drapes, towels and rugs are all a result of textile design. Textile Designers
need to discuss, understand and interpret the needs, ideas and requirements of their customers
accurately.
DURATION: TWO YEARS FULL TIME (4 SEMESTERS)Min. ELIGIBILITY: 10 +2 in any discipline from any recognized UniversityADMISSION PROCEDURE: Written exam followed by personal interview
Textile designing will add strategic value that can make all the difference in transforming fashion business into an economically viable and profitable proposition. The rapidly expanding activities in the domestic and export sectors of the apparel and home fashion industry demands professional inputs in design and development of textiles which this course aims to provide.
OBJECTIVE:
As a professional Textile Designer one can work in areas like Fashion Textile Designer, Product Development for Fashion, Fabric Analyzer, Fabric Resource Manager, Print Developer, Embroidery Designer and Automotive Textile Designer. There are ample opportunities in the domain of Lifestyle & Home Furnishings like Home Furnishing Textile Designer, Buyer & Exporter of Furnishing Fabrics, Trend Forecaster and Product Developer for Interior Design, etc.
