Plan your weekend schedule and talk with your child about what each of you is going to do for the weekend. Ask other family members what they are going to do for the weekend and talk together about that. Make a weekend schedule for the family and hang it up in the kitchen.

In the evening, plan the family’s schedule for tomorrow night. Ask your child Are you going to (read a novel tomorrow)? Have your child ask family members what their plans are for tomorrow night. Encourage your child to ask the time for the activity, too. Have your child write the activities down in order of the time he or she will do them. Repeat the activity and plan next Sunday’s schedule.

Home study activityHave your child draw a simple map with locations. Your child should ask each family member where he or she is going to go and then write each name at the location. Plan a family shopping trip. Have your child ask family members Where are you going to go? Each family member should respond, saying (I’m/We’re) going to go to the (gift shop).

Talk about plans for after school, the weekend, and this summer, asking Where are you going to go?

Talk about places where people ride bikes a lot.

Encourage your child to write and draw stories of his or her own using the phonics words.
