2 AUTHORIZED USENon-authorized use of the control head Type 8691 may be a hazard to people, nearby equipment and the environment. Thedeviceisdesignedtobemountedonpneumaticactuatorsofprocessvalvesforthecontrolofmedia.
▶ Inthepotentiallyexplosion-riskareathecontrolheadType8691maybeusedonlyaccordingtothespecificationontheseparateapprovalsticker.Foruseobservetheadditionalinstructionsenclosedwiththedevicetogetherwithsafetyinstructionsfortheexplosion-riskarea.
▶ Deviceswithoutaseparateapprovalstickermaynotbeusedinapotentiallyexplosivearea.

ThecontrolheadType8691cancontrolsingleordouble-actingprocessvalvesandhasbeenoptimizedfortheintegratedmodularfittingofseries21xxprocessvalves(Element).Variousexpansionstagesarepossiblethankstothemodulardesign.Forinstallationonthe20xxseries(Classic)thereisaspecialmodelwhichisdescribedinchapter“5.3”.Thevalveposition is recordedviaacontactless, analogsensorelementwhichautomaticallydetectsandsavesthevalveendposi-tionsbymeansoftheteachfunctionduringstart-up.
Apartfromtheelectricalpositionfeedback,thestatusofthedeviceisopticallydisplayedonthecontrolheaditselfbyacoloredhigh-powerLED.Option:CommunicationpossibleviaAS-InterfaceorDeviceNet.

7.2 Installation of the control head on process valves of series 21xx
NOTE!
When mounting on process valves with a welded body, follow the installation instructions in the operating instructions for the process valve.
Procedure:
Whenthecontrolheadisbeinginstalled,thecolletsofthepilotairportsmustnotbefittedtotheactuator.
→ Alignthepuckandthecontrolheaduntil 1. thepuckcanbeinsertedintotheguiderailofthe controlhead(see“Fig.7”)and 2. theconnectionpiecesofthecontrolheadcanbeinserted
intothepilotairportsoftheactuator(seealso“Fig.8”).
NOTE!
Damaged printed circuit board or malfunction. ▶ Ensurethatthepuckissituatedflatontheguiderail.

7.4 Manual actuation of the actuator via pilot valve
Theactuatorcanbemovedwithoutapowersupplyfromtherestpositiontoitsendpositionandbackagain,when the control air is connected. Todothis,thepilotvalvemustbeactuatedwithascrewdriver.NOTE!
The hand lever may be damaged if it is simultaneously pressed and turned.

Procedure: → Connectthecontrolmediumtothepilotairport(1) (3–7bar;instrumentair,freeofoil,wateranddust).
→ Attachtheexhaustairlineorasilencertotheexhaustairport(3) (see“Fig.12:Pneumaticconnection”).
Keeptheadjacentsupplypressurealways atleast 0.5–1barabovethepressurewhichisrequiredtomovetheactuatortoitsendposition.
Importantinformationfortheproblem-freefunctioningofthedevice:
▶ Theinstallationmustnotcausebackpressuretobuildup.
▶ Select a hose for the connectionwith an adequatecross-section.
▶ Theexhaustairlinemustbedesignedinsuchawaythatnowaterorotherliquidcangetintothedevicethroughtheexhaustairport.
