Tullibigeal Central School Newsletter
Welcome to our new students. Lane in Year 10, Paige in Year 8, and Squirrel in Year 5. We are delighted to have them join us this term and they are showing every sign of fitting in beautifully. We feel sure they will be made to feel welcome and trust they enjoy their time in Tullibigeal.
Sport Sport Sport Congratulations to the Dobson Relay Team; Elly, Bill, Dylan and Riley who did even better than last year’s group by finishing 8th in the final of the Dobson Relay event at the Homebush Olympic Centre. Great effort guys. The culmination of lots of hard work.
Happy Holidays. Big thanks to Jacqui for being on hand to facilitate the flu shots here at TCS on Friday 15 April. Always good to see the facilities used.
Anzac Day was on 25 April. What a beaut marking of a special day that was. Rick, Bill and Damon did
well, as did Riley. I especially want to acknowledge Grace, whose speech about animals in war was well researched and informative. Great delivery also Grace. Beautiful weather accompanied the BBQ which was most enjoyable. I am happy to say my lack of finances on the day has now been remedied.
Naplan Testing occurs next week for students in years 3, 5, 7 and 9. Some preparation is helping students get ready during the rest of this week. Good luck to all those students. Remember to use your 7 steps to successful writing training in the writing component.
Debutantes What a fantastic event the Deb Ball in Tullibigeal was on Friday 22 April. From my vantage point at the side window it was evident how fantastic the 5 debutantes looked. Their beaus were also immaculate. The dancing and the introductions were clearly well rehearsed and everyone looked set for a great time. The young ones also looked fabulous in their smart attire and smiling faces. Happy group; beaming mums.
PBL Corner. We are proud to be a Positive Behaviour for Learning school. Our signs have arrived and are up. We have moved assembly to be near the playground sign at the back of the administration block with a view to talking through the meaning of the values we espouse and the sort of behaviours which will help to keep ours a happy and productive school. A favourite of mine in the playground section is “enjoy inclusive games” which is just below “play by the rules”, in the RESPECT column.

Everyone enjoys being included in games that are being played. Of course it is vital to play by the rules and “take it out” when you’re out.
Primary Captains. An initiative which we hope will provide more opportunities for student leadership will be the election of 2 Primary Captains from Year 6 today. Congratulations to our successful 2 young men, Bill Dillon and Damon Imrie. Well done gentlemen.
School Planning and P & C. We have our next P and C meeting on 10 May. I wish to invite all parents to join in on that night. It will be the start of our revisions for the 2016 part of our school plan (2015 – 17). The Annual School Report was published on our website at the start of the holidays. As part of this reflection I would appreciate community input on 10 May to firm up our directions and strategies for 2016.
Sport Sport Sport Elsewhere in the newsletter you will see kids and 1 teacher lining up for the Cross Country on 8 April last Term. I am compelled to write that the old bloke on the brown shirt finished the 6kms and his legs hurt for the next day or so. Pink Stumps Day also happened on that Friday. We raised a lot of money for the McGrath Foundation. Mr Pic shone as the maestro coordinating the cricket in the afternoon which all the students enjoyed and was a lovely way to mark the end if the term. Thank you Mr Pic. Till next week…

Captains Visit Ricky Riley will travel to Sydney Parliament House this week to meet and talk with the NSW Governor, General David Hurley. This is an excellent opportunity for our school leaders. Thank you to Mr West for transporting Ricky and students from neighbouring schools to Sydney for this experience.
9/10 Geography Excursion Mr West has organised an excursion this Friday for our Year 9/10 students to Ootha to investigate issues of salinity in this region. This will provide students with real life understanding and connections to concepts being learnt in the classroom.
Entrepreneurship in Parkes Students in Year 9/10 will have the opportunity to travel to Parkes for the launch of the entrepreneurship course being run at Parkes High School. Mr West and I will transport students to Parkes for this opportunity. As this launch starts at 9:30 students will have to be at Tullibigeal Central by 7:30 to make Parkes in time. Hopefully students will get a lot form the day and can start to think with an entrepreneurial mindset.

On Friday 8th April the last day of Term 1 we ‘Stumped Up’ to be part of the Pink Stumps Challenge by hosting our own Pink Stumps Day. Pink Stumps Day is the McGrath Foundation’s community cricket initiative, where we can bring some of the Pink Test magic to our community. $260.00 was raised on the day and was donated to the McGrath Foundation to ensure every family experiencing breast cancer in Australia has access to a breast care nurse, no matter where they live or their financial situation. Well done to all students who participated and thanks to Mr Pic for running the big match on the day. Miss Pearce
