TRP-1000Transportable Interconnect System

The TRP-1000 Transportable RadioInterconnect System provides radiointeroperability during missionsrequiring communications betweendiverse organizations using differ-ent radios and different frequen-cies. The system package con-sists of one or more transportablecases and includes multiple radiospre-wired to JPS Communications’ACU-1000 Intelligent InterconnectUnit. The radios, which cover allfrequency bands, can be cross-connected through the ACU-1000.

In the event of a disaster or terrorist attack, theTRP-1000 provides First Responders with theability to quickly set up and establish a directcommunications link with federal, state, and localagencies as they arrive on the scene. The TRP-1 0 0 0 is completely self contained with radios, antenna, power supplies, and the ACU-1000Intelligent Interconnect unit mounted in trans-portable cases. The system can be set up andoperating in minutes to resolve the commoninteroperability problems of interjurisdictionalcommunications.

The system’s greatest asset is its ability to providecommunications interoperability between HF, VHFLow Band, VHF High Band, UHF, 800 MHz, 900MHz, Tr u n k i n g Talk-Groups and Encry p t e dNetworks. The TRP-1000 contains multipleradios, one radio for each organization involved, that can be quickly programmed to each organiza-t i o n ’s transmit and receive frequencies. Theseradios can then be cross-connected by the ACU-1000 in a variety of ways, including a mixture of2-way and conference conversations, as well as amix of permanent and temporary connections toinclude both radios, telephones and cell phones.

TRP-1000 Transportable Interconnect System

The system is an excellent toolfor emergency managementorganizations such as the U. S.Army Corps of Engineers (COE)and the Federal EmergencyManagement Agency (FEMA).The transportable cases may becarried into an area devastated bya hurricane or terrorist attackwhere they can provide cross-banded operation between FEMA,COE, Red Cross, National Guardand local law enforcement per-sonnel. Similarly, in 911 appli-cations, the TRP-1000 can pre-vent overloading the local 911Center during a large scaleemergency by providing directradio interoperability of variousemergency personnel outside ofthe 911 Center’s normal commu-nications circuits. An example isa hazardous materials spill emer-

gency in which HAZMAT, EMS,Fire and Law Enforcement per-sonnel operate on alternatecross-connected frequencies sothe 911 Center can go back tohandling its normal emergencytraffic.

The TRP-1000 system configura-tion above provides total systemprovisions for field or base sta-tion requirements. The systemallows radio networks of differentfrequencies to communicate witheach other via the ACU-1000. TheTRP-1000’s modular design canbe configured with a variety ofradio types and ACU-1000 mod-ules to conform to the cus-tomer’s mission requirements.

The ACU-1000 allows intercon-nections, in any combination,

between the system’s 10 radiosand two phone lines. The phonelines can be connected to thePSTN network or to cell phonesor satellite phones. The ACU-1000 allows radio users on twoseparate frequencies to talk toeach other, a telephone user tocommunicate with a radio net-work, or it can interconnect anynumber of radio users and tele-phone users to interconnect in alarge conference call.

This system consists of two trans-portable cases. The primary casehouses the JPS ACU-1000, 2radios (one UHF, one VHF), aradio power supply, and interc o n-nect panels to interface the pri-m a ry case to the outside worldand to the secondary chassis. Thes e c o n d a ry case contains 8 addi-

tional radios (4 each UHF andVHF), radio power supplies, andi n t e rconnect panels. Also includedare a laptop computer and specialsoftware to control the system, allrequired interconnect cables, RFoutput cables, and antennas nec-e s s a ry to operate the system. Thisis just one possible TRP-1000configuration. The system’sdesign allows a wide variety ofradios, telephones, cellularphones, or satellite phones to beeasily interc o n n e c t e d .
