This two-day course includes a focused, in-depth assessment and review of the ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding systems, with a focus on the trauma registrar’s unique needs. The first day of training will focus on ICD-10-CM injuries and e-codes, while the second day will focus on ICD-10-PCS procedures.

Required Materials: ICD-10-CM: The Complete Official Draft Code Set (2014 or 2015 Edition) and ICD-10-PCS: The Complete Official Draft Code Set (2014 or 2015 Edition) are required for this course. The books should be purchased in advance (suggested vendors: Amazon, www.medicalcodingbooks.com, AAPC, or AHIMA) or may be borrowed from your hospital’s medical records department. Please note: sharing manuals with a classmate is also an option.At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

• Recognize anatomical and physiological injuries commonly seen in trauma patients;

• Examine the ICD-10-CM/PCS coding system structure and describe the guidelines for assigning codes to ensure accurate injury severity mapping with the abbreviated injury scale; and

• Demonstrate understanding of ICD-10-CM/PCS through accurate assignment of codes to trauma case scenarios for external causes, injuries, complications, co-morbid conditions and injury associated procedures.

Program: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Thursday, October 15, 2015 and Friday, October 16, 2015

Accreditation:The training participants will earn contact educational units (CEUs) upon course completion. The CEU’s are recognized by AHIMA as well as for recertification of CSTRs.

Registration:$400 per person for CHA Acute Care Member attendees (total cost for both sessions).$400 per person for CHA Other Member attendees (total cost for both sessions).$480 per person for non-CHA members (total cost for both sessions).

Presenter:Jan Fuller, MBA, RHIA, CPHIMS, FAHIMA, Director of ICD-10 Training for Pomphrey Consulting, has worked in the field of Health Information

Management since 1984. She has served as an AHIMA approved ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS trainer since 2010 and has more than 20 years of experience teaching in higher education. She has served as the past president and as an elected delegate for the Louisiana Health Information Management Association and currently serves on the AHIMA Clinical Terminology and Classification Practice Council and as a board member for the Louisiana Chapter of the Health Information Management Systems Society. Ms. Fuller is a Fellow with the American Health Information Management Association.
