Woodside presents annual Ngurra Nyingu Art Exhibition
The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia (CME) has asked its members ‘What does industry spend and where?’ The data provided by 41 resources operations for the financial year 2017-2018, shows how industry’s spending flows through to every part of Western Australia, by means of wages and salaries, business purchases, government payments or community contributions.
This year, Woodside and its Pluto LNG
joint venture participants presented
the annual Ngurra Nyingu Art
Exhibition as part of the 2019 Fringe
Festival.
The Ngurra Nyingu (meaning ‘We are from this Country’) Art Exhibition is a contemporary extension of Woodside’s respect for Aboriginal culture. The exhibit has evolved over the past 11 years and showcases the importance of art and culture amongst the Aboriginal groups in Roebourne and surrounding communities across the City of Karratha.
From this information we can also see the number of businesses which provide goods and services to the Western Australian resources sector, the number of employees who work in the sector and where those people live within the state.
The data on the reverse side of this fact sheet provides a unique picture of Western Australia’s largest export industry, noting this is not modelling, but actual spend.
Additional fact sheets can be accessed from the CME website at: cmewa.com/economic-contribution
Ngurra Nyingu brings an exciting, enriching and energetic experience that provides an opportunity for artists to showcase their visual culture in a formal setting outside of their region.
In 2007, Woodside became a party to the Burrup and Maitland Industrial Estates Agreement and further committed to working with the local Ngarluma, Yindjibarndi, Yaburara, Mardudhunera and Wong-Goo-Tt-Oo Aboriginal groups.
Woodside places great value on working with Aboriginal communities in the places in which it operates, and continuing to build and strengthen relationships with the Aboriginal people of the Pilbara region.
