When people forget GodIsaiah 1:2-4 Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth; for Jehovah hath spoken: I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me. 3. The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib; but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider. 4. Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evil-doers, children that deal corruptly! they have forsaken Jehovah, they have despised the Holy One of Israel, they are estranged and gone backward.

And follow other gods

Isaiah 40:18-28 To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him? 19. The image, a workman hath cast it, and the goldsmith overlayeth it with gold, and casteth for it silver chains. 20. He that is too impoverished for such an oblation chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a skilful workman to set up a graven image, that shall not be moved...

Even an animal will know his master… recognize his owner

How could a whole nation forget their God?

maybe the answer lies in the fact that they desired to “sin”

a sinful nation… laden with iniquity… evil doers – they forsook God so that they could do their own will.

Even Christians can forget who God is…

• there is no excuse for it – Hebrews 8:10-12– Galatians 4:8-9

Howbeit at that time, not knowing God, ye were in bondage to them that by nature are no gods: 9. but now that ye have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how turn ye back again to the weak and beggarly rudiments, whereunto ye desire to be in bondage over again?

“I will never forget God”

• How about when we sin?• Or when we absent

ourselves from the assemblies?

• Or when I fail to love my brother

When we forget God’s Ways

Hebrews 3:8-13 • A whole generation of

people were saved (out of Egypt)

• but, they failed to enter into the “promised land”

• God was displeased with them

• they did not know His ways

If I should fall away...

• Who is responsible?• Can I blame others?

(will it do any good?)

• NO one can make you fall away. No one can take away your faith

Others can contribute...

• Preachers may fail to preach all the truth– Ezekiel 3:17-19 – Acts 20:17-21 – Acts 20:26-27

• Churches may fail you– 1 Corinthians 5:1-5 – 2 Corinthians 2:6-9 – 2 Thessalonians 3:14-15

There are many things that we should know. Some things we take for granted. We should never take for granted the fact that God is God. He is Our God, our Savior and Redeemer… our Protector and Sustainer of life. In Him we live and breathe and have our very being.

For a Christian to forget God… is to forget who he is (like forgetting your own name). To forget God’s ways… is to become lost again. Let us resolve to remember and to hold fast. There are some things that we should always remember… things we should always know.
