Future Upgrades
• E2V 230-‐42 CCD Purchased with Funds from Mt. Cuba. To be installed by July 2010.
• New VPH GRISM centered at 486nm, with about 0.09 nm/pixel. ~390 nm to ~580 nm across the detector. Purchase by Andrew West at BU.
• Interest in a Sloan Filter Set?
Perkins Telescope Partnership Mee0ng 5 3/12/10
Concerns or Issues
• Shuqer age: The shuqer in PRISM is no longer manufactured. Currently working on replacing circuit on shuqer that failed electrically, the spare is installed.
• Wheel 1 home switch is being monitored for possible intermiqent failure.

Future Upgrades
• Sozware work to improve filter wheel, slit, and decker control.
• Possible RI and YZJ Filters for Addi0onal Spectroscopy Coverage.
Perkins Telescope Partnership Mee0ng 10 3/12/10
Concerns or Issues
• Camera mo0on: Current camera posi0on limited to F/5 except for very special circumstances. Not observer selectable.
• Spare Cold-‐head Refurbishment and rebuild of current cold-‐head.
• Filter wheel encoder problem. S0cky bit currently fixed in sozware.
• Possible problem with bright stars pulling rows levels down.

Future Upgrades
• A proposal is being submiqed to Mt Cuba for purchase of a deep deple0on, 2-‐layer AR coated, e2v CCD42-‐10 in addi0on to or to replace the exis0ng CCD42-‐10. This imager will reduce red-‐side fringing substan0ally.
• The CCD back focal posi0on will be adjusted to allow for parfocal spectral and PSF focusing with the higher-‐dispersion gra0ngs.
• Integra0on with the DCT RC instrument cube: poten0ally includes remote motorized control of slit width, gra0ng 0lt, focus, and filter selec0on.
Perkins Telescope Partnership Mee0ng 14 3/12/10
Concerns or Issues
• No major issues, opera0onally stable. • Scheduled to move to DCT.

The Kron Photometer Specifica0ons, as operated on the Perkins 72” telescope
Detector: The existing "backend" of the instrument consists of a thermo-electrically cooled detector usually operated at about -25 degrees C. The phototube is an EMI 6256, with a quartz window. This "blue" tube has good sensitivity from 3000 to 5200 Å, then falls-off out to 6000-6500 Å, and has no throughput redward of this. Dark current averages to 1-2 counts/s. Measured dead time correction is 60 ns.
