Shantideva’s The Way of the Bodhisattva is one of the most profound texts ever written about
bodhicitta, or compassion. His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, has been quoted, “If I have any
understanding of compassion and the practice of the bodhisattva path, it is entirely on the
basis of this text that I possess it.”
Namchak Khenpo will offer this in-depth study of the book and its contents over several
years as an annual retreat. This weekend retreat will be the second in the series continuing from last year’s
week long retreat. You may attend even if you missed last year. Another weekend continuation will be Nov 30-
Dec 2, 2012. This Buddhist Shedra of teachings gives students a rare opportunity to learn how to cultivate the
mind of enlightenment while generating the qualities of love, compassion, generosity and patience.
The retreat will take place at the Ewam Tibetan Buddhist Center at 180 S. 3rd St., West in
Missoula, MT. Cost is plus teaching materials. Sessions take place Friday night 7-9pm ($25), and Saturday
and Sunday ($50/each day) from 10am-12:30pm and 2:30-5:30pm. This is not a residential retreat. Tea and
light snacks will be provided. Register in advance by calling 406.726.0555.
