In a flt of despondency. William L.Davis, 58 years old, slashed his throatat his home. 1349 Q street northwest,late yesterday afternoon and diedthree hours later at the EmergencyHospital. Davis was discovered by .

his brother. Edward F. Davis, andrushed to the hospital.Daris has been suffering from acute

asthma for Ave months. Accordingto the brother, with whom he hadbeen residing, he had been despondentfor a week and had been confined tohis room. It was when the brotherwent upstairs to administer medicaltreatment that the discovery wasmade.The dead man was unmarried. He

was a painter but had been unable towork for some time. Coroner Nevittis investigating.

Submits Report on Fair.ROCKVILLE, Md., Sept. 29.-The

report of the treasurer of the MontgomeryCounty Agricultural Society,submitted at a meeting of the boardof directors here yesterday afternoon,shows that total receipts of the recentannual Rockville Fair, given underthe auspices of the society,amounted to $19,207.39, including tnefallowing: Admissions to groundsand grandstand. $13,556.65; privileges.$1,618.20; race entries. $851.25;exhibitors' and membership tickets,$794; miscellaneous. $2,387.34. Theexpenses were about $19,270, but Includedthe purchase of land, the erectionof new buildings and other permanentimprovements costing about$3,000.
