Isaiah 9:6 Sunday Morning

December 15, 2013

Isaiah 9:6"For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor,

Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace"

The Gospel’s Place in Jesus’ Life

1. Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners.

1 Timothy 1:15-1615 This is a faithful saying and worthy

of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. 16 However, for this

reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all

longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for

everlasting life.

2. Jesus Christ came into the world to call sinners to repentance.

Mark 2:16-1716 And when the scribes and Pharisees saw Him eating with the tax collectors and sinners, they said to His disciples, "How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?" 17 When

Jesus heard it, He said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a

physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but

sinners, to repentance."

Acts 2:38-3938 Then Peter said to them, "Repent,

and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the

remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the

promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as

the Lord our God will call."

3. Jesus Christ came into the world to seek and save the lost.

Luke 19:10"for the Son of Man has come to seek

and to save that which was lost."

2 Corinthians 4:3-63 But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the

light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine

on them.

5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus' sake. 6

For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has

shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in

the face of Jesus Christ.

4. Jesus came into the world to demonstrate the true purpose of life and give Himself a ransom.

Matthew 20:28"just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His

life a ransom for many."

1 Timothy 2:5-75 For there is one God and one

Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, 7 for which I was appointed a

preacher and an apostle--I am speaking the truth in Christ and not

lying--a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

5. Jesus Christ came into the world to be a King and bear witness to the

truth.

John 18:37-3837 Pilate therefore said to Him, "Are You a king then?" Jesus answered, "You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this

cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth.

Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice."

John 14:6Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the

truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

6. Jesus Christ came into the world to do the Will of His Father.

John 6:36-4036 But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me,

and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.

39 This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. 40 And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may

have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day."

 7. Jesus Christ came into the world to be a Light in the world.

John 12:46"I have come as a light into the world,

that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness"

1 Peter 2:9-109 But you are a chosen generation, a

royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out

of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not

obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.

8. Jesus Christ came into the world that men might have the Abundant

Life.

John 10:10-1510 The thief does not come except to

steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. 11 I

am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.

12 But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the

sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters

them. 13 The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about

the sheep.

14 I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. 15 As the Father knows Me, even so I

know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.

9. Jesus Christ came into the world to Judge the world.

John 9:39-4139 And Jesus said, "For judgment I

have come into this world, that those who do not see may see, and that

those who see may be made blind." 40 Then some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, "Are we blind also?" 41 Jesus said to them, "If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say,

'We see.' Therefore your sin remains.

10. Jesus Christ came into the world to die on the cross.

John 12:27-2927 "Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save Me from this hour'? But for this purpose I came to

this hour. 28 Father, glorify Your name." Then a voice came from heaven,

saying, "I have both glorified it and will glorify it again."

1 Corinthians 15:20-2620 But now Christ is risen from the

dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For

since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22

For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.

23 But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ's at His coming. 24

Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when

He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. 25 For He must

reign till He has put all enemies under His feet. 26 The last enemy that will be

destroyed is death.
