1. Provides a supporting framework for your body.2. Allows movement ( with help from muscular system).

3. Protects internal organs.4. Storage place for calcium, phosphorus.5. Production of red and white blood cells.

Types of Bones

1. LONG: FEMUR, HUMERUS2. SHORT: BONES IN WRISTS, ANKLES3. FLAT: RIBS, SKULL BONES4. IRREGULAR: VERTEBRAE

Problems:

1. Fractures.2. Scoliosis: curvature of spine.3.Osteoporosis: loss of calcium in bones. Bones break easy, and back may become hunched.

Problems cont.

4. Osteomyelitis: inflammation of surface of bone. (from bacteria)5. Injuries to joints: stretched ,torn from too much pressure.
