The Second Sunday of Ordinary Time
January 24, 2021
THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
“Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God: ‘This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe in the gospel.” The theme for what will follow is quite clear. Following this introductory note, Jesus summons the two sets of brothers who abandon their fishing profession and begin their life as disciples. Mark’s opening verses reveal that there must have been something really attractive about this meeting, the call and response.
As we settle into a new year, with countless challenges, problems and difficulties, may we seriously respond to the call, first not of discipleship, but to repentance and a newly fired belief. As I change, others will change, and the world will become better – less hate, division, fear.
What is Jesus calling you to?
