The PUMA Golf 2009 Special Edition collection

was ready to launch, but photography was

still needed. To communicate the subtleties of

the product design lost in vector illustrations,

detail photography of collection samples

was used to bring texture, pattern, and the

materials’ interaction with light to life.

The PUMA Golf 2009 Special Edition collection

was later introduced to media with the following

look book. The cover image spoke to the product

design with strong lines and values of black,

while the book’s golf tee closure communicated

the product’s purpose.

On a journey through unfamiliar territory, you

need to know where you’re going. The design

concept behind Run Wild, a PUMA Running

event, was inspired by just that: adventure

and navigation. The event took a group of

runners on an expedition through breathtaking

scenery and out of the ordinary terrain. The

map was illustrated with such a journey in

mind, including various outdoor elements,

surprises, and a hint of PUMA humor.

The intensity of a sailing race around the

world is difficult to understand if you have

never experienced it yourself – though

dramatic photography of sailors facing the

most challenging conditions certainly helps.

This book was designed to feature such

photography and provide an in-depth look

at the PUMA Ocean Racing team, their boat

il mostro, and the challenges of the Volvo

Ocean Race in which they competed.

With only one North American Stopover in

Boston, The Volvo Ocean Race 2008-2009 was

cause for excitement. To celebrate a worldwide

race coming to our own hometown, PUMA

launched a campaign that took over local

subway stations, trolleys, buses, magazines,

and radio stations. The campaign focused on

Boston culture through dialect and history.

Shot locally in Boston, this book was

designed to feature the 2009 PUMA

Accessories Collection. Introducing and

setting the tone for each category is

an extreme landscape hero shot. Here

the product is brought to life and given

personality through the setting and

activity paired with the accessory.

The London-based band Psapp attributes

their unique sound to a fascination with and

constant use of different noises created by

both common and uncommon objects.

These different noises, such as falling rain,

served as inspiration for each illustration.

The box set designed for Psapp includes four

seven-inch vinyl records. Each cover features

a different gesture drawing inspired by music

on its respective album. The illustrations

serve as visual interpretations of the music’s

different sounds, patterns, and melodies.

When two characters are fused because

of similar forms, it creates a ligature. In

this case, it also created a logo. This idea

inspired the design for Boston University’s

Gallery Five logo; and is also reflected in

the adjacent Garamond written ‘five’.

logo design

This book was designed to feature the work

of Christo, a large-scale environmental

installation artist. The cover design was

inspired by the artist’s method of working

and thinking, while the interior spreads use

a clean layout and striking photography to

bring focus to Christo’s work.
