The Number Seven. Many cases in scripture number

‘seven’ symbolises COMPLETION. ‘Seven’ plays leading role especially in

Book of Revelation. Seven letters to churches followed by

seven-sealed scroll. Likened to telescope - when shut

telescope contains all inner sections - as with seven-sealed scroll.

Structure of the Sevens. By seventh seal - end of a phase of

future history is reached. As seventh seal opened shows

seven trumpets. At seventh trumpet still not at

conclusion seventh trumpet contains seven vials seventh of which opens out into seven thunders

Progress of the Sevens. Seven seals are opened, giving power to

he who opens them - Jesus Christ. Seven trumpets deliberately blown, as

in military summons brings people at war into action.

Seven vials then poured out, bringing intense and speedy destruction.

Seven thunders finally consummate overthrow of kingdoms of men - open way for the Kingdom of God.

Time Periods Signified.

Seals and Vials cover relatively short time periods.

They act as encouragement for believers living in the times.

Time periods signified in these various ways have by nature to be varied - if regular then faith not necessary as future could be mathematically calculated.

Seven Visions of Glory. Interspersed between historical events

predicted - seven visions of final Glory to which ‘telescope’ is sighted.

Encompass ultimate manifestation of God in the Lord Jesus Christ and the saints.

Impart encouragement to those living at the times holding out prospect of immortality to come.
