The National Gallery of London

The National Gallery is an art museum

on Trafalgar Square, London,

opposite the Nelson’ Column. It was founded

in 1824. It has over 2,300

paintings, from Leonardo Da Vinci

to Van Gogh.

It is the fourth most visited art museum in the world, after the

Musée du Louvre, the

Metropolitan Museum of Art and the British

Museum.

The National Gallery hosts the national collection of Western European painting from the 13th to the 19th

centuries.Each area is divided into different periods as shown in

this map.

In the Gallery you can find some of the most famous paintings of

all times like “Arnolfini’s wedding” by Jan Van Eyck or “The Supper at Emmaus” by

Caravaggio…

… “Sunflowers” by Vincent Van Gogh and “Bathers at la Grenouillère” by Monet.

There are activities for families:

The National Gallery offers

free drawing and writing sessions run by famous

writers and painters addressed to

university and college students.
