The Lord’s Day
JULY 5, 2020 11:00 a.m.
GREETINGS
CALL TO WORSHIP Rev. David Hall
*HYMN “Join All the Glorious Names” #301
*INVOCATION
*CONFESSION OF FAITH London Baptist Confession, 1689
Pastor: What do you believe about Holy Trinity and the Holy Spirit?
People: Three divine Persons constitute the Godhead--the Father, the Son (or the
Word), and the Holy Spirit. They are one in substance, in power, and in
eternity. Each is fully God, and yet the Godhead is one and indivisible. The
Father owes His being to none. He is Father to the Son who is eternally
begotten of Him. The Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son.
These Persons, one infinite and eternal God not to be divided in nature or
in being, are distinguished in Scripture by their personal relations within
the Godhead, and by the variety of works which they undertake. Their tri-
unity (that is, the doctrine of the Trinity) is the essential basis of all our
fellowship with God, and of the comfort we derive from our dependence
upon Him.
*HYMN OF AFFIRMATION “Breathe on Me, Breath of God” #334
PASTORAL PRAYER Rev. Mic Knox
UNISON PSALTER READING Psalm 139
O LORD, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit
and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going
out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word
is on my tongue you know it completely, O LORD. You hem me in—behind
and before; you have laid your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too
wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. Where can I go from your
Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you
are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings
of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will
guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, “Surely the darkness
will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will
not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light
to you. For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my
mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden
from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together
in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days
ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of
them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand.
When I awake, I am still with you. If only you would slay the wicked, O
God! Away from me, you bloodthirsty men! They speak of you with evil
intent; your adversaries misuse your name. Do I not hate those who hate
you, O LORD, and abhor those who rise up against you? I have nothing but
hatred for them; I count them my enemies. Search me, O God, and know
my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any
offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

THE SACRAMENT OF THE LORD’S SUPPER The Lord’s Supper will be served during the evening service next week. All those who have received Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord and who are members in good standing in an evangelical church are invited to partake of this special means of grace. Children who have not been received by the elders as communing members should not partake, but learn by reverent observation, even though they may have trusted Christ for salvation. If you are aware that you have not received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, you should allow the elements to pass, and you are urged to repent of your sin and embrace the free offer of salvation in Christ by faith.

Founded in 1850, Midway Church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), a
Reformed, evangelical denomination organized in 1973. Our church seeks to be Scriptural in both its
government and its doctrine. We believe the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, our infallible and
divine authority in all matters of life and faith.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The
Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of
the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
John 1:1,14
