• The Barbara Bush library has over 70 computers available for use by its customers .

 • You can also use YOUR laptop at the library

to access the internet. • A wireless connection is available at this

branch for customers to use their laptops to search the online catalog, access the library databases, and use the Internet.

CONNECTION SPEEDS

Consider a project that requires downloading a 5 minute movie clip of a lesson on tax forms OR a 5 minute movie clip of actual live footage of the 911 homicide attacks on our citizens.

Using a dial-up modem it would take about 15 minutes to download it

Using a T1 connection it would take about 30 seconds to download it.

• This class covers very basic computing skills, identifying items on your computer, using a mouse and keyboard, basic Windows, virus protection, PC care, etc.

• This class covers viewing web pages, conducting searches on the Internet, downloading text, files and images and printing. Prerequisites: Introduction to Computers or the ability to use the Windows desktop.

• Participants will learn about creating an address book and how to create, send and receive electronic mail (e-mail). Prerequisites: Introduction to Computers or the ability to use the Windows desktop.

• Topics include editing, copying and moving text; varying margins on the document and individual paragraphs; character formatting (boldface, underlining, font and size changes); saving and retrieving files; labels; and printing.
