Passengers spent $14.63 billion before, during, and after their trips, while crewmem-bers spent $1.27 billion in local destinations – all benefits that accrue to the global economy. Cruise lines spent a total of $39.87 billion on goods and services worldwide in 2014. Direct spending generated by the cruise industry created a ripple effect of an additional $64.13 billion in global economic impact in 2014. Cruise industry spending helped support 939,232 jobs and $39.34 billion in wages worldwide. Note: Jobs refers to jobs associated with total economic impact. Total economic impact includes direct spending by cruise lines, passengers and crew, as well as the goods and services purchased by directly impacted businesses and employees (indirect and induced impacts).
