DESCRIPTION

Can design be taught? “People cannot learn by having information pressed into their brains. Knowledge has to be sucked into the brain, not pushed in. First, one must create a state of mind that craves knowledge, interest and wonder. You can teach only by creating an urge to know.” Victor Weisskopf, Physics professor. 1997

Can design be taught?

“People cannot learn by having information pressed into their brains. Knowledge has to be sucked into the brain, not pushed in.

First, one must create a state of mind that craves knowledge, interest and wonder. You can teach only by creating an urge to know.”

Victor Weisskopf, Physics professor . 1997

The Creative AcademyI want to create an active learning environment where art, aesthetics, research and design are connected as part of the “doing” process at the heart of the project. I want to express that practice and research are essential components and the ultimate aim is to develop students who can connect life and creative potentials. The Bauhaus made up the rules of “doing”. I have been influenced by the Bauhaus teaching material and reinterpreted these to create my own curriculum made up of hearing, listening and communicating skills. I believe life lessons lead to learning in a modern contrast. Numeracy and literacy = Essential Creativity, compassion and responsibility = Valued
