FOREWORD With pleasure we present this 1956 edition of The Columbian with the hope that it will bring

you many hours of enjoyment as you review through its pages the highlights of this year at Colum¬ bia High School. May this book always be to you a symbol of your many happy hours at Columbia High!

PRINCIPAL To hold even our present level of progress we continually

need more education and training. The great masses of our people are capable of taking increasing amounts of develop¬ ment along desired lines. Thus it becomes our business in school to stimulate pupils in growing in every good way possible. Rapid forward strides have been made in recent years. Today we are hopeful for youth everywhere in meeting the dynamic challenge confronting them and the world.
