FAST FACTS...

Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15. MLK

Day was signed into law as a national holiday by

President Ronald Reagan in 1983.

DECA Regional Results

On January 7, one

hundred and nine-

ty-six Ridgewood High School students went to

individual scenario role-playing and testing,

which was conducted prior to the event.

RHS DECA had about ninety students qualify for

the next round of competition. In order to ad-

and a student who placed top three on a test

or role-play received an extra award for recog-

nition of their accomplishments.

Some outstanding first place overall perfor-

& Accessories Marketing Series; Emily Press

and Elisabeth O’Neill, for Buying and Merchan-

dising Management Team Decision Making;

Rebecca Tomilchik and Samantha Constant, for

Financial Services Team Decision Making; Mad-

eleine Phillips and Shea Darienzo, for Mar-

keting Communications Team Decision Making;

and Grace McCormick, for Principles of

Marketing.

Those Ridgewood students along with the oth-

er placed students and teams will move on to

1/16/2015 A TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE

Google Education Trainers

Two Ridgewood High School

teachers were recently certi-

fied as Google Education

Trainers, World Langauge

teachers, Stefanie Gigante

and Daisy Sam. They both

achieved this distinction

after meeting criteria set by

Google.

First, they earned high scores on a series of

tests on Google Apps. Then, they each assem-

bled a resume of our training experiences, in-

cluding a case study. Finally, each candidate

made a two-minute instructional screencast to

demonstrate her technology teaching skills.

This is a great honor which will benefit RHS, by

having two officially accredited Google trainers

on staff to help further train faculty in the uses

of Google, and even have the potential to bring

in new resources and programs for the benefit

of the school.

Dr. Thomas Gorman and Jeff Nyhuis speak with over

forty Ridgewood Japanese Parents at the Ridge-

wood Ed-Center, on the educational process and

goals of the Ridgewood Public Schools.

RHS POLICY CORNER: Restricted Areas During Instructional Hours

While class is in session, students may not remain in the staff parking

lot or Heermance Place. Any area may become off limits if noise in-

terferes with the instruction of fellow students.

During the course of the school day, Heermance Place is regarded as

part of the Ridgewood High School Campus. As such, rules of behav-

ior are similar to those for any other part of the school grounds. Stu-

dents are also reminded that they cannot park on the west side of

Heermance Place, as it is for faculty only.

While classes are in session, students are not to congregate in the

hallways or areas of the building where classrooms are located. Un-

der no circumstances are students to engage in behavior that is dis-

turbing to the learning process going on in classrooms.

Students who are uncooperative or who are repeatedly disruptive

will be referred to the Grade Advisor and will be subject to 7:15 am

detention(s) and/or loss of Open Campus privileges.

Intermediate ballet will provide students an opportunity to study ballet with an emphasis on improving skills in technique utilizing the typical ballet class structure of barre, center work, and across the floor exercises. In addition, students will study classical ballet variations to synthesize the technique in a perfor-mance concert.

Students interested in this course must meet the pre-requisite of having one year of previous ballet instruction. The course will be available for the 2015-2016 school year.
