YEAR 5 CAPTAINS SPEECHES Our Year 5 students will be presenting their speeches at this week’s Assembly setting out why they should be voted in as a school leader to represent Yoogali Public School in 2013. For the first time in consultation with Yoogali PS P&C, Yoogali PS will have four school leaders in 2013 - one school captain, one vice captain and two prefects. These students will also be the students who will represent Year 6 next year on the Student Representative Council. To allow us to complete the voting process straight after the students present their speeches, we will be holding this week’s Assembly at the earlier time of 2.00pm. We ask that parents do not take any students home with them after the Assembly to allow all students the opportunity to have their say in who the leaders of the school will be in 2013. We wish all candidates the very best of luck!
Term 4 Week 6
12th November 2012
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
Each week in our newsletter we will
be focusing on an issue related to
attendance. This week we would like
to focus on the importance of
regular communication between
home and school. If for any reason
you are finding it difficult to get
your child to come to school, please
contact your child’s class teacher
as soon as possible. By working
together we can ensure that your
child gets the very best education
possible at Yoogali PS.
We have had a very busy couple of weeks at Yoogali PS with students being lucky enough to participate in an interactive drumming performance by Planet Rhythm last Monday and also the Beach to Bush information session about surf safety last Thursday. These performances, combined with Crazy Hair Day on Tuesday and the torrential downpour we had on Wednesday made for a very interesting week indeed! As you can see in the photos below, a great time was had in Week 5 by all!
KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION Our new Kinders for 2013 have settled in well during their orientation sessions over the last two weeks and are very keen to start their adventures at big school. This week’s orientation session starts from 1.00pm on Friday to allow our new students to eat lunch at school and to have time to play with other students in the playground at lunchtime.

Well done to all the students who participated in crazy hair day. You all looked amazing! The students have been using ‘ The true story of the three little pigs’ text to explore narratives in literacy. They have also learnt lots of interesting facts about pigs and wolves. To follow the fairy tale theme, the students have been recreating scenes from classic fairy tales in art. So far we have made scenes from Rapunzel and Jack and the Bean Stalk and we are currently doing a scene from Hansel and Gretel.
1/2/3 have also created a Christmas tree that will be displayed in the Griffith Central Shopping Centre soon. Kelly (Mrs Wright)
This week has seen 4/5/6
getting stuck back into learning.
During Art this term we have
been looking at famous
artworks that were created in
the time of the Gold Rush.
Students this week have been
creating their own artwork
based on this time in Australia.
As part of the students task
they need to write an artists
statement explaining their
work.
In the coming weeks we have
many exciting events to look
forward to but in the meantime
we have lots of learning and
teaching to do.

We have many interesting stories
including monsters called Miss

In the coming weeks our writing
