Integrated Pest ManagementIf You Have Bed Bugs – Chemical Treatment

When you report bed bugs an appointment will be scheduled with the Exterminator. You will receive a notice with the date and instructions for preparing your apartmentIt is normal to see live bed bugs the first couple of days after treatment. The pesticides have a residual (lasting) effect so do not clean or vacuum treated areas for at least 2 weeksAlso, many severe infestations may require 2 or 3 treatments before bed bugs are completely gone

Integrated Pest ManagementChemical Treatment

The PCP can treat most infested furniture. So do not throw out your furniture unless suggested to do so by the Exterminator

Integrated Pest ManagementNon-Chemical Treatments – Tenant Must “Do”

Heat kills bed bugs so:All bedding and clothing placed in green garbage bags should be removed from bags and placed in dryers for at least 30 minutes using hottest setting Discard original bags and place heat treated items in new ones and tied Replace bedding but keep clothing in bags until you are sure the infestation is gone. After wearing clothes place in a separate bag and label as dirty

Integrated Pest ManagementNon-Chemical Treatments – Tenant “Can Do”

Mattress and Box Spring Encasements are a wise investment

If you don’t have bed bugs encasements will protect your bed and box spring from infestationIf you do have bed bugs it will lock bed bugs in and save you from purchasing a new bed or box spring
