The TELES media gateway controller (MGC) enables operators of wholesale and retail long-distance
networks to migrate their networks to VoIP-based next-generation networks. Due to TELES.MGC’s pro-
ven interoperability it plays a major roll in a variety of NGN scenarios and operates perfectly in multi-
vendor environments. Its signaling controller is designed to match today’s demanding requirements
for a maximum of services across the worlds of legacy PSTN and the growing VoIP community.
TELES.MGC offers full interworking between SS7 and SIP:
With support for more than 30 national SS7/ISUP variants
signaling information is transported via SIGTRAN protocol
(M2UA, M3UA, IUA*). Besides several common SIP flavors
H.323* is included for Class 4 interworking. Standard MGCP
support ensures a future-proof investment.
TELES.MGC is the choice whether the aim is to build a new
network, to replace a common TDM backbone with IMS
compontents, or to interconnect multiple carriers via mul-
tiple protocols. In the latter case, TELES.MGC can provide
full signaling SBC functionality. For broadband subscri-
ber access, TELES.MGC manages the complete SIP-to-SIP
connectivity including interconnection to fixed-net des-
tinations.
TELES.MGC is suitable for carriers looking for a gradual
transition or for large carriers quickly heading toward IMS.
Its high-performance call engine can easily process more
than 2,000 call attempts per second. TELES offers specially
tailored solutions for most common capacity needs, rang-
ing from 64 E1 to more than 4,000 E1 (120,000 cc). Each
expansion level is backed up either by physical or physical
and geographical redundancy.
For highest demands TELES.MGC can be dimensioned as a
rock-solid, scalable cluster solution with five-nines availa-
bility. TELES.MGC clusters offer the best combination of phy-
sical and geographical redundancy with no single point of
failure.
TELES.MGC's intelligent and easy-to-set-up call routing is a
major benefit for converging NGN and PSTN networks. Pro-
tocol conversion, least-cost and alternative routing, calling
and dialing plans are standard. By cascading routing rules
and policies, complex dial plans can quickly be built and eas-
ily adjusted. Online and offline CDRs and RADIUS support
for access control and accounting are a matter of course.
TELES.MGC is managed via its complete graphical user in-
terface. All information the operator needs is available at a
glance: Performance measurement, statistical reports, traf-
fic monitoring.
Interoperability is proven for a wide range of available
MGCs, MGWs, CSCs, and SBCs. TELES.MGCs interface with
all major application servers, building a platform for a host
of advanced services including minute wholesale, PrePaid,
and Call-by-Call.
The TELES.MGC is a core building block for your IMS/NGN network, built on TELES’ cluster expertise.
TELES’ cluster technology lets you add a virtually unlimited number of cluster elements to build a TELES MGC system to your performance and capacity requirements.
With standard SIGTRAN support a breakout to the PSTN network can be realized using Media Gateways from TELES and all major vendors.
