SOR (SOIL's OHM READUCER) Compound:-
SOR compound is a specially formulated compound having high current conductive & rust Resistance property, Absorbing & retaining the moisture for long period. It reduces the ohmic value of soil & helps in Faster dissipation of fault current.Sor compound will be used around the earth electrodes at the time of installation.SOR compound is to reduce resistance between electrodes and soil and to create a low resistance zone arounding the electrode to create a uniform environment so that the electrode output is constant. Sor compound use as back fill material.

a suitable depth of 2 or 3 meter (Electrode length)
2. Mix backfill material nicely with dug out soil.
3. Throw handful of compound soil mix into pit.
4. Remove plastic sleeve carefully from electrode.
6. Refill space around electrode with backfill material in small
quantities.
7. Then pour some water and gently poke around the
pit with a long wooden rod, to allow trapped air to escape.
8. In this manner gradually continue refilling process till
electrode is buried in pit, up to the green patch painted on

10. Pack electrode with compound tightly,so that it stands firmly in pit.
11. Pour a few bucket of water around pit.
12. Test earth resistivity of electrode. If satisfactory, connect it with
equipment.
13. If result is not satisfactory, give some time for electrode system to

SAFETY MEASURES:-
a. Do not drop earthling electrode in pit.
b. Do not use force to drive electrode into pit.
c. Do not hammer or cut electrode while installing.
d. Remove transparent plastic cover before installation.
f. After installation pour a few buckets of water in and around pit for 18-20 days. This helps system to set.
g. if soil in pit sinks, fill with mother soil.
h. apply petroleum jelly on terminal and connect with equipment.
