Our Scenario

A day in the life…

MorningAt 9AM, Chris gives his Graph Theory class a lecture on knot theory.

Since this lecture involves many complicated graphics, he has pre-drawn them and loaded them into a presentation.

“This would be so much easier on the chalkboard.”

AfternoonIn ARTS203, Sam gives the class a presentation about Modernism in the 60’s.

She starts with a slideshow of images, and then loads up a DVD from the History Channel to explain the paradigms, then continues her slideshow.

“Hey! Check out this awesome sculpture!”

EveningAt 6PM, Alex comes in to give a recruiting talk to students who may be interested in internships; she gives this talk very frequently, especially in the fall.

“I’m going to really nail this afternoon’s talk.”

Initial Ideas

Ordering of Inputs• Know all the needed sources ahead of time• Current system – middle-load• Frontloading allows for smoother transitions• Will presenter try to front load?

Queue

Settings• When does the user access them? • How often?

Home• To what level should settings be reset?• Public Device• Common Terminology

If We Had a Time Turner

Mobile solution• Users walk around during their presentation• Lectern != portable• Handheld too small for 100% full functionality• Not everyone has smartphones• Comfort

Functionality• “Done” = RESET • Vertical settings sliders• Slider Memory• Device control (ie. DVD player)• Correlation between mini and big previews
