This is the ONLY Relay for Life award that we have NOT earned..

Criteria:Succession Plan10 of the top 15 teams registered by

February1 mentor for every 10 teams105 teams registered by April 4th

Teams must be registered and fees payed BEFORE you can receive a site.

I will start with the most senior teams and work down till we get to Relay 101 Lottery for 1st year teams at the last Team Captain meeting #3 May 18th, all sites will be set then.

1. A Team-they come in all shapes and sizes. People are our best resource.

These are not RELAY teams

These are RELAY teams

Pets of any kind. Children or teenagers who aren’t

directly part of your team. Team members who camp apart from

their team. Bikes, roller blades, skate boards or any

powered device. All handicapped individuals will be

accommodated.

The lots are approximately 30 ft. x 30 ft. Tents should not be any bigger than 20 ft.

small travel trailers and “hand crafted” structures of all shapes and sizes (must still fit the size restrictions.

Other Tent Companies are available: they will come from as far as Detroit, Toledo, Ann Arbor. SHARE INFO AT TEAM CAPTAIN MTGS.

Be as creative as you want. Remember, you have to carry it and no extension cords.

Tent Curtains, tarps etc. It can get cold. Chairs, tables, lights, heaters, coolers,

sleeping bags, food, beverages, etc. Signs and sentiments. Decorations, Decorations, and More

Decorations. Lights are cool. Above ground Fire box. (BE CAREFUL!) Generator, extension cords, etc.

OK!

All power and water are free for use at your TEAM site.

But, some Relayer’s like a little more “team space.”

RV’s: NEXT MEETING.

Relay is a very large, complex event with the usual issues when large crowds get together.

Safety, security are paramount:On site Deputy Sheriffs all 24 hours.Large volunteer Security team, trained by

the Deputies before the event.Ambulance services are either onsite/very

near.First Aide station is at the Information TentAll disputes, etc. are settled by the

Committee

All Relay participants will have a wrist band: Required for teens/children after dark.

Wrist bands will be available:1. Given to the team captains at the last team captains meeting.2. Available at the information booth (set up at the entrance) for all adults and team participating teens/children.3. The team captains should write the name of their team on the wrist bands.

Those without wristbands:1. Adults will be encouraged to wear the wrist bands.2. Teens/children will be asked which Relay team they belong to or who brought them for verification; those who cannot be verified will be brought to the information booth for contact of parents for a ride home.

There is a large MAIN lot east of the Fairgrounds. Team setup, visitors

There is a large SURVIVOR parking area, best for survivors and those who may need to get out at night.

All areas will have volunteers, wheel-chairs, assistance with people or stuff.

Safety is everything!The Monroe Relay for Life is one of the largest Relays in the country.

Over 100 teams and more than 4000 to 6000 people in attendance.

PRE-RELAY SPIRIT POINTS AWARD Once again there will be an award for the team with the most pre-relay spirit. This will be

determined by points your team can earn for participating in the various tasks needed to have a successful Relay. The award will be trophies awarded at the opening ceremony at the Relay. You will need to have each task signed off by either Debbie Waltz or Marion Rinne. We can do this for you at any of the meetings.

POINTS These tasks will earn your team points:  100 Attend Kick Off and pick up your team captain packet. 100 Bring a new team captain with you to Kick Off, if they register at Kick Off earn a bonus 50 more points.  100 Register your team by Mar. 2 nd.

 100 For each team captain meeting you attend: Mar. 2nd, Mar. 16th ,

April 20th, and May 18th. Make sure you sign in!  150 Pay your team registration fee by Mar. 16th, or,  100 Pay your team registration by April 20th.  100 Have all your team members signed up online before the t-shirt deadline on May 4th .  100 Turn in your teams’ luminaria names into Chris Sims for the newspaper insert by May

6th .  100 Turn in your teams’ silent auction item(s) by the May 18th deadline.  100 For each Pre-Relay fundraiser you have before May 18th.  1pt. For every dollar raised online. 10 For every luminary bag sold.  100 Each member who signs up for the Cancer Action Network (CAN).  500 For a corporate sponsor. 

Last day to turn in points is May 18th.
