Historical Background

• Separated from Sudan in 2011 (7 years)

• Tribal tension (Dinka/Nuer)

• Extremely fertile (sesame)

• Limited infrastructure

Problem Statement

Due to lack of infrastructure and split from Sudan, South Sudan is unable to capitalize on its abundant natural resources. Sesame seed oil production continues to be limited due to inefficient manual oil extraction processes.

INTROPROJECT

FEASIBILITYDESIGN

ALTERNATIVESOBSTACLES;

BUILDINGCONCLUSION

5/18

• Sesame oil extraction device for use by neighboring farmers

• Create an avenue for divided tribal groups to unify around

• Focus on Upper Nile region
