Importing Data

Open your Database file

Select the external data tab

Select Text File

Browse for the Customers_v2 CSV

Click and press open

Select Delimited and Next

Select First Row Contains Fields Names

Click Next

Allow Access to create a Primary Key

Click Finish

It has created the table. Double click to open.

The table is open.

SECTION A: UPDATE OF DETAILS Amend the customers data so that all records are up to date.

Kudwick Bosko has moved abroad and has asked to cancel his monthly membership.

Right click on record and select Delete record.

Select yes.

This shows that Mr Kudwick Bosko has been removed

Rebecca Jackson has moved to: 29 Chester Road, Fleetwood, Blackpool, FY7 9PP

Select Miss Rebecca Jackson and overtype address.

Miss Jacksons address has been changed.

Miss Phoebe Jacques, has just registered for the monthly subscription option. She lives at 9 Blackberry Close, Yate, South Gloucestershire, BS37 8YA. The certificate age block she has selected is ‘PG’

Miss Phoebe Jacques has registered, this shows before and after her data being entered.

SECTION B: ADDRESS LABEL

Miss Jacques needs to be sent her new membership details. Create an address label so that the registration documents and membership details can be sent to her.

To create an address label for Miss Jacques select create Query Design.

Select table of data to be used. Customers_v2.

Select each field header.

Select the registration date for today.

Select under field header, ascending order will sort data into A-Z.

Select run to run the query.

This shows the query having found Miss Phoebe Jacques.

Select the Labels query.

Select yes to save the query.

Save the query.

Click next.

Select data for data label for letter then press next.

Select that data is sorted via Last Name.

Press finish to fun report.

This shows my data label report.

SECTION C: SORT/SEARCH

Adam would like to send some publicity information to all ‘Stream-as-you-go’ members who registered before April 2012.

Provide a list of contact details of customers who should receive this information, in

alphabetical order of last name. Provide evidence of how you produced your outcome.

To create a search to find only customers registered before April 2012, click on query wizard.

Add the Customers_v2 table data.

Select dates. Choose ascending order on last name and press run.

This shows the data the search and sort found.

SECTION D: MAIL MERGE

Adam would like to send a mail shot to all customers to inform them of the special offer if they introduce a friend or relative.

Use the draft letter Adam has given you to prepare a mail shot to be sent to all customers.
