What a hassle• Everyone can agree one of the worst things

about talegating is carrying the cooler

• So what if you didn’t have to

Presenting the TaleGator

IDEA

• When this project is done nobody should ever have to carry a cooler again.

• The gator follows a specified colored shirt (orange or blue) colortracking program

• Incase of pedestrians getting in its way it avoids obstacles using ultrasonic sensors.

Sensors

• Ultrasonic sensor:– 1:mounted to the front left– 2:mounted to the front right– 3:mounted to the back center

• Camera– CmuCam mounted at an angle to the center front

Example of color tracking

Changes

• The original design called for four small motors each with a large wheel.

• This design couldn’t hold weight so it was replaced with a two drive wheel system and a caster in the back.

Current progress

• Body is fully put together with sensors mounted

• The programs to track colors and to avoid obstacles have been written

• Feedback is given in the form of two led lights mounted on the front of the body

Full Demo

Limits

• The robot seems to pick up things such as leaves as obstacles

• Seems to have difficulties with some colors depending on the light

• Has a weight limit for the cooler it can carry so cooler cannot be fully loaded.
