Maintenance Requests – NOW ONLINE We have recently made significant improvements to the Deakin Residential Services website. As part of this you will notice that there is no longer a link to directly report maintenance requests. This is now available through the Resident Login area, at the top right corner of the webpage after entering via your campus link, or via this link http://starrez.deakin.edu.au/StarRezPortal/ In order to submit a maintenance request you will require your Residences Login and Password: Once you have logged in, you will then need to select the Maintenance tab at the top of the page, then New Job. This is where you will also see any open requests that you have previously reported. You will then be also have to select the Category, and the Item effected, and provide a brief description. Then select Save and Continue. Your request is then submitted to the Residences Office. You can also review any previous requests via the Residences Portal. If you have an URGENT request, or have any concerns please contact the Residences Office directly. Regards Deakin Residential Services Team

Handbook Refresher
With T2 approaching it is seems timely to refresh ourselves on some of the important guidelines and regulations for all living on Warrnambool Campus. T1 has sailed by, largely without incident, however towards the end of the semester complacency was evident regarding the condition of common areas, noise around campus and general courtesy shown to fellow students. I would encourage you all again to familiarize yourself with your handbooks and conditions of residence so all can experience a fantastic T2 here at Warrnambool.

Mushroom & spinach risotto Serves 4
Ingredients • 1 litre salt-reduced chicken stock • 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil • 1 medium brown onion finely chopped • 250g button mushrooms, sliced • 1 1/2 cups SunRice Arborio Risotto Rice • 1/2 cup dry white wine • 150g baby spinach • 3/4 cup finely grated parmesan • 30g butter, chopped
Method 1. Place stock and 1 cup cold water in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook for 6 minutes or until mixture starts to simmer. Reduce heat to low to keep hot.
2. Heat oil in a large heavy-based saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onion and mushrooms. Cook, stirring, for 5 minutes or until onion has softened. Add rice. Cook, stirring, for 1 to 2 minutes or until coated. Add wine. Cook, stirring, for 30 seconds or until wine has absorbed.
3. Add 1/3 cup hot stock mixture to rice mixture. Cook, stirring, until stock has absorbed. Repeat with remaining stock mixture, 1/3 cup at a time, until liquid has absorbed and rice is tender. Adding more than 1/3 cup stock at a time will make the risotto cook too quickly.
Encourage your people to be committed to a project rather than just involved in it. You know the difference between involvement and commitment don't you? In a meal of bacon and eggs, the chicken is involved, the pig is committed.”
