From THE GOVERNOR
This is my last note for the newsletter as your Governor. I
want to personally thank all my officers for their help and
support over the past year.
I want to give my thanks to Mary Lou O’Mara, Office Man-
ager, for all her advice, experience, and extra help at the
lodge through the sad passing of Mike Binkowski. He has
been truly missed by all members.
I’d also like to thank the many members that have helped
me with my duties as Governor and I wish the new Board
of Officers a great success next year.
Last but not least, I would like to say to all members of
Sylvania Moose Lodge 1579, “It has been an honor to
serve you all.”
Fraternally, Bob Whalen

From THE SENIOR REGENT
It is that time of year when we’re looking for a new Board of Officers: Senior Regent, Junior Regent, Secretary/Treasurer, and Recorder. If you are interested or know of someone that is, please attend a meeting or let one of the current officers know. Keep an eye out on the WOTM bul-letin board for dates and times. I am nearing the end of my term as Senior Regent. I will touch on my most heartfelt thoughts: 1) the outpouring of support from fellow officers, past officers, and members of the Moose. I truly appreciate everything that was done to help out, because it couldn’t be accomplished without you! You were always there for me; and 2) I gained a wealth of information this past year! Congratulations to Maria Lay and Renee Carstenson for receiving their Academy of Friendship Degree at OSMA Mid-Year Convention...way to go girls! It’s always great to see others succeed. In closing, be kind to one another. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as Senior Regent for Sylvania Chapter 1788.
KINDEST REGARDS, JILL WOODS

WOTM ORIENTATION
& ACADEMY OF FRIENDSHIP CEREMONY
Women of the Moose will be holding Orientation and
Enrollment on Monday, April 1 (no fooling!) at 6 p.m.
Any women members that have not attended an Orien-
tation is invited, along with your sponsor.
Following Orientation we will be honoring Renee Car-
stensen and Maria Lay, who recently received their Acad-
emy of Friendship Degree in February. This is a beautiful
ceremony and we encourage all members, both LOOM
& WOTM members, to attend. Food will be available to
the new enrollees and all attendees after the ceremony.
We look forward to seeing you there.
A huge Thank You to the WOTM Board of Of-
ficers—Jill Woods, Kim Hetherington, Maria
Lay, Renee Carstensen and Linda Hosler—for
all their hard work as the Hostess Chapter for
the Ohio State Mid-Year Convention in Feb-
ruary. They worked countless hours in prepa-
ration and they made me proud!
I would also like to thank Shannon Sullivan,
Linda Hoffman, Georgia Strube, LuAnn Hayes,
Debbie Muter, and Brenda Whalen for their
help during the convention.
Finally, thanks to all the members of the Syl-
vania Moose that supported me in this posi-
tion!

ATTENTION HORSESHOE PLAYERS
It’s time to begin a new season for Horseshoes. Anyone interested in becoming a member of this league needs to attend a meeting at the lodge on Wednesday, April 17 at 6 p.m. We will also schedule days to clean the pits and we need as many
people as possible to help out.
The first half begins Wednesday, May 1 at 6 p.m. League dues for the first eight weeks is $45 (the second half will be paid at a later date). Continuing league members have first opportunity to participate, but you must contact Dave Sullivan (419-466-
0487) or Marsha Warrington (419-704-7954) PRIOR TO APRIL 17.
If you are new to the league, let us know or attend the meeting. Last year we had a full league of 48 players, but at this point we don’t know how many spots will be open. However, the best way to move up on the waiting list is through subbing. We usually need about 4 – 6 subs each week so you’re likely to play a lot! There is no cost to be a sub, just the opportunity to have a good time and meet a
lot of fun people!!
